Summer Conversations 1: What if Summer wasn't something to survive?
Jun 10, 2026
Welcome to Summer Conversations!
Every year, summer arrives and I tell myself it's going to feel different. Slower and lighter, with more presence. And then somehow, before I know it, I'm rushing through August wondering where it went.
So as we embark on these next precious months of sunshine, longer days, and new routines, I've found myself thinking less about productivity and more about rhythm.
Maybe it's because the days are longer. Maybe it's because life naturally shifts this time of year. Or maybe it's because after years of trying to optimize everything, I've realized that some seasons are meant to be experienced, not managed.
The truth is, finding your flow isn't always immediate. In fact, it can be a little messy. You may have to re-schedule a meeting you booked on the first Monday of summer because you were feeling just a bit too optimistic. Yes, I literally did that this week.
Schedules change. Vacations get planned. Kids come and go. Work still needs attention. Life keeps happening.
And yet, I've come to believe there's something beautiful about intentionally designing a season instead of simply reacting to it.
Not perfectly or rigidly, but thoughtfully. Making choices ahead of time about what matters, what can wait, and what you want this season to feel like when you look back on it.
So this summer, instead of asking, "How do I get everything done?" I'm experimenting with a different question:
What would it look like to create a summer that feels good to live in?
I don't have the perfect answer, but I have a feeling it's a much better question.
