Summer Conversations 3: A 1st Birthday and what it taught me...
Jun 24, 2026
Welcome back to our Summer Conversations.
This week, the rhythm of the series gets interrupted by a small but meaningful moment.
One year ago today, Unleash Your CEO Mama officially entered the world.🎉
After eight years of starts, stops, self-doubt, abandoned drafts, and more than a few moments where I wondered if I would ever finish it, I finally held that book in my hands.
What a year it has been.
I have smiled every time someone sent me a photo of their highlighted pages. I have laughed when women, and more than a few men, told me they saw themselves in one of the stories. I have been deeply moved by the messages, the conversations, the connections that happened because I decided to stop talking about writing a book and actually wrote it.
To every person who bought a copy, shared it with a friend, gifted it to a daughter or sister or colleague, invited me to speak, sent a note, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines — thank you.
Here is what I did not expect.
When I finished the book, I thought it was the destination. Goal achieved. Box checked. Move on.
What I have come to understand over the past year is that the book was never the finish line. It was the first breadcrumb on a much longer path.
The conversations that began inside its pages have continued to evolve through my coaching, my speaking, these Summer Conversations, and the work I am now building around Leading Yourself Well™.
Not because the message changed. Because it deepened.
The book named something. The work since has begun answering it.
That is what this season has been showing me. That the conversations we start do not always end where we think they will. They keep unfolding, asking us to keep paying attention, keep showing up, keep choosing what comes next.
So as I sit with this small anniversary today, I am holding two thoughts at once.
Gratitude for what was, and curiosity about what is still being asked of me.
Happy first birthday, CEO Mama. 💛
And to you, reading this on a Wednesday in June:
What is this season showing you?
Not what you wish it were showing you. Not what you think it should be.
What is it actually trying to tell you?
I would love to hear.
