Summer Conversations 8: It’s a Trustfall Baby

Jul 29, 2026

Welcome back to our Summer Conversations.

Over the past several weeks, we've talked about what deserves your attention, what you've outgrown, and what you might be making room for.

As I've reflected on all of those conversations, I've noticed something.

Most of the biggest decisions in my life were never really decisions.

Not in the way I thought they were.

By the time I finally took action, I already knew.

I knew when it was time to leave, time to begin again or time to recommit.

I knew when something no longer worked for me. And there have been a few times when I didn't listen.

One situation that taught me this lesson came through my work. I had devoted more than twenty years to a mission I believed in deeply. I was grateful, committed, and convinced that if I just held on a little longer, things would shift.

But deep down, I already knew.

I knew I had outgrown the box I was being asked to fit into. I knew my gifts were no longer being fully used. I knew it was time for something different.

I just wasn't ready to trust what I knew.

Eventually, the decision was made for me.

I knew when I needed to trust myself and take the leap, the real struggle wasn't figuring that out.

It was trusting that knowing, which is the tricky thing about truth.

It rarely arrives like a lightning bolt. More often, it taps you on the shoulder softly over and over again.

Showing up in the conversation you can't stop thinking about or the feeling you keep trying to explain away. That decision you've been afraid to make or the thing you've already answered a dozen times in your heart, but haven't acted on yet.

I've learned that when a truth keeps returning, it's usually not asking for more analysis, more readiness, or more overthinking.

It's asking for trust.

So I'm curious...

What do you already know?

What decision have you been postponing?

What truth keeps tapping you on the shoulder?

The question isn't whether you're ready, it's whether you're willing to trust yourself.

You already know.

The question is whether you are going to let yourself act on what you know.
